The European Topic Centre on Spatial Analysis and Synthesis (ETC-UMA) is an international research centre within the University of Málaga, Spain, which supports the development of knowledge that feeds evidence-based policy for the European Environment Agency and European Transnational Programs.

The goal of the project Mediterranean Biodiversity Protection Community (MBPC) is to bring together researchers, managers, public authorities and environmental institutions with the aim to support Mediterranean biodiversity protection and management. Blueverdes role in this project was to design several website products, publications, and to create a fact sheets catalogue in several languages (English, French, Arabic and Spanish) serving as a management lection tool.

The challenge of communicating the scientific data in an appealing way was resolved by the set up of an attractive website as a gateway to the data visualisation database. Starting from scratch, the Bluevderde team sketched and modelled to develop the conceptual design with the right visual identity, look and feel, for the online university knowledge platform. The setup of the webpage also included the development of a library of resources and a content management system for publications.

The factsheets catalogue which BV helped to develop was described by the client as a complex product. When creating a publication in several languages it’s common that the amount of text varies a lot. Our team resolved the challenge of keeping a consistent look throughout the publications by working in a creative and flexible way. According to the client, the outcome of the catalogue fact sheet publication was very successful and has now become a model used in other projects.

“ The Blueverde team has been very responsive to our specific needs and we hope to count on Blueverdes support for future projects.” Sonsoles - ETC-UMA communication officer
